Dukono (Halmahera): (24 Dec.) The explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned of a volcanic ash plume that rose to an estimated altitude of 8,000 feet (2,400 m) or flight level 080.

Loihi (United States, Hawaiian Islands): (24 Dec.) Seismic instruments from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) detected a volcano-tectonic earthquake of magnitude M 4.9 at 12 km depth centered about 42 km southeast of Nā’ālehu at 01:32 local time today.
The volcano observatory reported: “Slight shaking, with a maximum intensity of IV, has been reported in parts of the island of Hawaii. At this intensity, significant damage to buildings or structures is not expected.”
